I was wondering if I could fit a 180/55-17 on my stock rim on my 97 F3? It looks like it might be kinda close to the chain, anyone done this before?

Also, what is involved in lowering the rear of this bike, I know front can be done with no parts but how bout rear?

I have a 180 pirelli...hasn't blown up...I can still take turns at 100+ and it doesnt touch the swing arm

 

If you're looking for more contact patch, I wouldn't suggest it. Being that the rim is only 5.0 inches wide with a 180 will have it roll rounder on the edges as opposed to a 5.5inch rim with the same tire. 170 should be the biggest you go with the f3 5.0 inch rim.

My cousin runs a 180 on his F3 been doing it for about a year now, however i think it handles like S***. but it still works

 

I just put new pilot powers 180, i had a 170, i luv it, huge difference from the last tire feels like it wants to be on its side.
it is kinda scarey how close it is to the chain but when adjusted correctly looks great, plus i got gold chain and gold &black sprocket and fat tire. i havent been riding that long but i ride hard, my buddy road it and he got a cbr 1000rr and he says its feels alright. its all personal preference.
