wont start
i have a 93 cbr f2. its hard to start in after its been sitting for a while. but after its been running it runs fine.
its done this to me once before it was running at idle, but when i would try and rev it it would bog, then it slowly died, and wouldnt start.
after about ten minutes it started up again and rode fine.
this time i was on my way to work, got about a two blocks away and it stumbled to a stop. then wouldnt start. so i had to push it home. this was like two days ago. and it still refuses to start.
to me it seems like a fuel delivery issue. but i dont know much of anything about bikes. could it be a failing fuel pump, do bikes even have fuel pumps or is it gravity feed. could it be a clogged fuel filter? and ignition problem?
any ideas, can you point me in the right direction, or should i just start tearing into things and learn for myself? and if so. what is the best way to remove the tank if it still has fuel in it?

RE: wont start
F2's do not have a gravity feed, but it does have a vacuum line on the petcock.
First things first....it still has gas right?
Is the vacuum line hooked up?
Is there rust in the tank?
Does it sound like it's trying to start, meaning does it sputter or just crank?
Do you have a spark on all plugs?
Does it start if you shoot starter fluid directly into the carbs?
You can always test if gas comes out of the tank by removing the tank, open the petcock and apply a vacuum to the small connection on the petcock.
If you have gas, you have a good spark and it starts with starter fluid, then I would go with dirty carbs. Also check the choke cable. Make sure it's hooked up and functional.

RE: wont start
^^^ vent tubes...make sure they are NOT constricted when you put the tank back on...you don't want them blocked up or you will have a problem somewhat similar to yours...it would be remedied by opening the gas cap and if you heard a woosh sound...those hoses were plugged or crimped

RE: wont start
okay, so the bike started. i hadnt done anything yet, i just started taking the plastics off and i figured i would try and crank it. it started for a second like it usually does then died. i killed the battery trying to start it so i jumped it, and then it ran. put everything back together and took it for a ride to charge the battery. ran great, got home and it started great after that. does this still seem indicative to dirty carbs?
