Those duralast are junk man. I've got an advanced glass mat battery from autozone. I think the brand is power sports plus or some weird thing like that but it's been an awesome battery. Cost about 75 bucks but well worth the extra cash.

Yeah - you're looking for the AGM-style at very least.

there are some generic alternatives to a yuasa out there - I think you and I are mentioning the same brand. I have a local battery place that sells them, and honors the warranty - 1 or 2 year I think. I have a couple of buddies that are a couple season in on theirs.

Yuasa even makes a lower-budget line now if you can find them that have a 1year warranty: This is their model for the F2: $65 shipped.

Finally remembered this. Hmm, let`s see. Most of my problems have been a combination of poor maintenance from the previous owner(s) and the high mileage:

-When bought the chain+sprockets were totally shot, changed.

-Rough idle and hesitating a little when accelerating, after a month of winter storage won`t fire at all, new set of plugs + fresh air filter took care of that, hadn`t ever seen so black air filter before...

-Rattle from the gearbox and the clutch basket, big slack between gears that require some force specially when downshifting, tried full synth oils, didn`t stay in, replaced with Castrol act>evo 20w50, not a drop has escaped, gears go in a little smoother and the noise was reduced a bit. I was told that the clutch rattle is a feature, not a fault, and the gear wear is normal with these km:s, so I guess it`s fixed then...

-Some horses seemed to be missing, revving and gunning caused foul smell and smoke from the exhaust when standing still, which basically told me the chimney is clogged, more revving and gentle banging to the pipe has recovered at least most of them.

-Ripped seat vinyl, replaced by a pro with added padding, came out perfect and costed 30e!

-The rubbers between the rear rim and the part the sprocket attaches to(don`t know their names, sorry) are really worn, you can wiggle the sprocket without moving the rim, got a new set, gonna replace coming weekend.

-Front brake pads are about 1mm from contact with the rotor, bought new EBC pads today, gonna replace coming weekend.

-Had a spare key made.

-The fan didn`t work, replaced fuse, couldn`t find a reason to why it had popped.

Some more too, but can`t remember right now...

Question. Can a bad or wrong positive battery cable cause my rectifiers to keep shorting out?
