Default What problems have you had with your F2?

Just curious about problems you guys have experienced and how many miles etc...
Personally, I have 28,900 miles on my bike now. I bought it at 21,000 miles. Since then I have

1. Rear brake line clenching against tire, exploded brake fluid all over the highway. Replaced line.

2. Clutch cable snapped, rode home 30 minutes without a clutch lol scary. Replaced.

3. #2 Spark plug loosened while riding, was firing up and down against the plug wire. Stripped out the threads. Had to pull engine out in order to get helicoil in properly. All spark plugs replaced at time.

4. Dumped bike, destroyed fairings. Got minor leak in side of radiator, soldered it closed, no problems since!

5.Nail in brand new rear tire, ruined tread...Replaced again.

6. Chain worn, replaced

7. Rubber piece holding inner tank filter to thh tank got sucked into filter, caused fuel blockage. Removed rubber piece, destroyed filter in process.

8. Remainder piece of rubber flushed through and stuck inside fuel line and carbs, caused bogging.

9. Friend knocked bike over with huge 3000gt door, broke both mirrors, cracked gauge cluster, broke killswitch. He paid for new mirrors, I stuck tin foil and electrical tape where the killswitch was, works like a charm lol.

Whew! Quite the list, no bueno... BUT I just landed a new job as an aircraft mechanic at Boeing, 03+ Cbr600rr first on the list!

Hehe, looks like we also have common problems

#1 Rear brake leak due to rear tire rubbing the brake line!

#2 Went in to wal mart for 30 mins, walked out to see my bike on the ground...broke my right mirror and turn signal

#3 Yesterday, I was riding and my right fairing bolt flew off and so did my entire right lower fairing. Shattered into a million pieces. Didn't bother stopping...

#4 Cracked and broke my front headlight from a rock flying into my headlight. Glad that wasn't my head!

#5 CCT went out at 39k at miles

#6 Voltage Regulator/Rectifier went out at 44k miles

#7 Temp sensor stopped working at 51k miles (still not fixed hehe)

#8 Rear subframe/tail bent crooked, had to heat it and hammer it back into place...

My F2 went through quite some beating. Still runs like a champ

Water pump went south with less than a 1000 miles on it. Bike was getting real hot on the track. Replace the thermostat, didnt work. Got a brand new water pump and it worked. That was 15ish years ago. Bike is track only with no odometer, according to my calculations it has roughly 3500 miles on it now.

I forgot about my R/R going out also! haha i had to push it a mile through the hills...Also pretty sure my CCT is starting to have trouble, got the rattle up front for a minute or two on start up.
I beat the hell out of my f2, i like to punish it for being rude to me

dagg92, I have to admit that number four on your post made me laugh....

4. Dumped bike, destroyed fairings. Got minor leak in side of radiator, soldered it closed, no problems since!

....I don't think I would class dumping your bike as a 'problem' with the bike.

As for my F2, most of the issues have been related fixing minor stuff the PO didn't look after. A few missing bolts, badly routed tubing, poor carb tuning.

Gratz on the job dagg. I work at the Everett plant on the 747 . Lots of people ride there. I'm sure you will find a lot of people to ride with (and make lots of money to spend on useless toys ;] )

Thanks! I actually work the 747 flight line doing rework for a contracting company right now. But I have an interview at Boeing coming and plan on coming in to work the factory which pays a lot better then my current company. But the funding towards new useless fast dangerous toys has begun!

the leak in radiator was a problem, even though I was at fault for this one
