Default Syncing the carbs

Hey guys,

I was wondering if you guys had any insight or have synced your f2's carbs. I went to sync them today. I found the main vacuum and the vacuum on carb 2 with a little nipple cap. Where 3 and 4 are there are just screws. Am I looking in the wrong place or is that standard. The only thing I could think of is honda not providing all for so you had to take it to the dealer. Any thoughts?

This is standard. Page 3-8 of the Honda Service Manual indicates as much. If understand correctly you can replace the screws with a nipple and cap. I believe the synchronizer comes with adapter plugs.

What tool are you using to synch them? Do you have a Tach? What kind? I'm looking to do this very soon (hoping to solve my startup issues).

My buddy's dad has an old sych tool we were going to use, so we don't have the adaptor. I guess that's where I'm sunk the adaptor. My thoughts were to just find the part number on the number 2 nipple and cap and put them in 3 and 4. I guess I could price out a new sync tool, but i would imagine 2 nipples would be cheaper than a whole new tool. What sych tool were you looking at buying?

I was looking at the Synchromate 2, but that's like $300 but it does have a built in Tach.

Bike bandit has these nipples available
.

The other option is getting the one used in these websites ($80 I think)
http://www.angelfire.com/ia/z/FZ1carbsync.htm
http://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/c...onization.html
and by an induction tach seperately.

Thanks for the links. I'm thinking the 7 dollars for the brass adaptors is a better option for me. The amount of times I'd use the synchronizer are minimal. Why wouldn't honda just put 4 nipples on instead of 2! Oh well. I also found the honda nipples in the parts catalog. It's Parts 6,7, and 23 under cylinder head.

06 JOINT, BOOSTER
16214-MB0-000 002
07 CAP, BOOSTER
16215-MV4-000 00123 CLIP, TUBE (B7)

I have always seen people just use the tach on the bike. I guess that's just not as accurate as a seperate tach.
