starter problem (please help)
I'm in a bind. I've got a 93 cbr f2. I went to start the bike last week and i cranked for a sec then there was a popping sound and nothing
happened after that. Tried to jump it, battery wasn't the problem. Knocked on the starter while trying to start it, it cranked but made a high pitched noise but wouldn't turn over. I figured the starter was out. Went to put the new on in and it wouldn't line up. Then I took the started cover off and saw that the molding on the lower engine case that holds the bolt for the smaller gear which is turned by the starter was cacked in half. I called my local honda dealer who said i would have to replace the engine. I thought that maybe the molding cuold be grinded down and have someone fabricate a new housing for the bolt. Extra info: the started didn't show any damage, the housing for the other end of the bar on the back of the starter cover is also cracked. I have no clue what would have cause this to happen or what could prevent it from occuring again. PLEASE HELP if you have any ideas or if you've had or heard of this problem. Thanks... James
