I use a 5/8 spark plug socket with a 3 inch or 4 inch extension. [8D]

i use the same setup (5/8 spark plug socket and an extension) I did mine with the radiator still on but if you have trouble reaching the plugs through the airbox opening, taking the radiator off maybe some help.

well here is what happened. I have had the bike for three years now without a problem. Then I started my bike this weekend and bow like a gun went off it shot a spark plug out. I bought a new plug and cant get to thread in or tighten down. so i dont know what to do at this point. Pop the head off seems like the best solution.

It sounds like you have no threads left in the head at all. You might be abvle to get a hielcoil in there. But why did it "pop" out did something hit it ? but if not you might need to take the head off which is kinda simple on these i took mine off a few times takes about 3 hrs to have it off

Yes, chances are if it blew a plug out, the threads are gone, or at least bad enough not to be trusted. Time to yank the head off.
