Default Running funny?

hi, my 1994 is running kinda funny, i think its running a little rich, it has to be full choked to run, at idle, and while you drive it, it can only got o half choke, or the bike dies while your cruising along, for some reason it doesnt seem like its getting enough gas! Can someone help answer my question?

Make sure there is no leaks on the intake boots. The rubber gets old and cracks.

If they are good, give the carbs a good cleaning.

The choke doesn't change the amount of fuel is used, it changes the amount of air in the mixture ("chokes" the air, richens the mixture).

I was going to say your pilot jets may be blocked but they only affect low rpm.Still getting this problem mid range and up? But if they're plugged up needing to run w/ the choke on or it dies at low rpm is the #1 suspect of clogged pilots.

You'll foul the plugs real quick if you keep this up.

They probably can just be cleaned.Check the air screw settings as well, don't have a manual anymore or I could tell you how many turns out.If it is lack of fuel thats the problem it could be the fuel petcock is not going at full tilt.It has a diaphragm in the back which works off engine vacuum, they are rebuildable.

dont forget the idle adjuster... if its busted, popped out or even turned down, any and all carb related fixes or repairs may not have the effect... i would check that too... good luck
