RE: running the bike naked?
yes, you can ride naked but its not as easy as just taking off fairings. the front upper holds both the headlight and the turnsignals. if you want to be naked, btw is a beautiful look, and the only way i ride, you have to fab up a front headlight mount out of something like fog lights or anything that you like and can find. and also fidgure out a way to mount turnsigals. for mine, i hust added on a bracket off my headlight mount that i made and mounted flushmount turnsignals in them.
side comment you might be careful ridding in the rain with nothing cover any of your electronics.

It's just going to be for a week when my fairings are getting painted. I'll probably try to make some brackets out of wire and zip tie, and cover it when I'm not riding. Is it legal to ride w/o mirrors? Cops are trying to make some money at the moment, and are writing tickets like crazy.

when i saw this topic i was glad i wasn't the only one because i ride naked every now and again. then i realized you were talking about
the BIKE being naked. lol. it depends on your state law. some states don't require mirrors on a bike, some require at least one. putting on a mirror on a naked bike gets tricky, but i have seen it done.
