reydelaplaya's rebuild thread
Well folks, things here in the warm, sunny Caribbean haven't improved much over the last few months. I guess I can't complain too much since I still have my Jeep ZJ running well. But I've really devoted no time or $ to my F2 since the $ for my restoration is still tied up. Grrrr.
So I've decided to do it myself. I'm a good car/truck mechanic, so why the hell not, right?
First things first, I'm definitely going to have to rebuild/regasket the engine, as the last time I posted I mentioned something about gas leaking out the side of the engine.
So I gotta ask... Is there anything special I need to know about doing this myself before I get the engine out and torn apart?
Special tools?
Rebuild kits?
Stuff NOT to do? LOL (that one usually gets me when it's too late)
Anything that will prevent me from being pissed off that I have a disassembled motorcycle in my living room?
Like I said before, I'm a helluva good mechanic when it comes to cars, but this will be my first attempt at rebuilding an engine. The carbs are already done and clean, so I can at least cross that off my checklist.
After I get this engine rebuilt, then I'm going to start on the rest - forks, brakes, etc., but I want to get the engine at least running properly first.
Any hints/tips/suggestions from anyone who's already done this kind of thing before will certainly be appreciated.
I'll be posting updates and pix in this thread as I go along.
Thanks for any input, guys/gals.
Hope this summer has been a great riding season!

So whats the verdict? F3 or F2. Just because it has F3 sticker on it doesnt mean it is a F3. Guy at work told me he used to have a 93 CBR 600 RR. I told him no way. He insisted he did. Then I proceded to tell him. 87 thru 90 = Hurricane or F1, 91 thru 94= F2 and so on and so forth. He shut up.
