Default R/R and Stator?

what is the r/r? Where are the r/r and stator. Went on a 250 mile trip and sputtered out on the freeway. Pulled over got gas and now it won't start won't even bump start either. The battery is 11.6v when not sitting in the bike. The nuetral light is fairly bright also

Default RE: R/R and Stator?

The rr is located under the right back plastic fearing. It has about 5 wires going into it and it has fins for heat displacement. It works by converting 3 phase voltage from the stator to normal dc voltage and keeping it within the limits because when the rpms go up the stator produces more power so the rr just grounds the excess thats why it gets got after a while. The stator is inside the left engine cover and it has 3 wires coming out of it, not sure of the colour but as the rule they are all same colour usualy yellow. I wouldn't bother checking everyting untill you are 100 percent sure your battery is perfectly good. Charge it first and see what happens. The rr is more likely to fail then the stator so check that next if the battery checks ok. If that checks ok next i would check all the ground wires and all the contacts that you can find. I think some one has i write up here somewhere on how to diagnose the electricl fault. Good luck. Cheers.
