question for the experts

Default question for the experts

i just receved a 1994 cbr 600 f2. from what i was told it sat for five years. for some reason its not getting gas. if i put gas straight into the carbs it fires right up but if the gass tank is hooked up it wont even start. is the valve coming off the gas take vacumed controled?

If it is like my '92, yes. The vacuum line on mine goes to the left side of the motor. If you take it off of the motor and take the fuel line off the tank(the one with a clamp), you can suck on the vacuum line and fuel should come out of the fuel line if the fuel switch is on.

yes, an uses all vacuum, the f3 uses a fuel pump, also if it set for that long the fuel could be geled up in the lines blocking flow or in the valve.

I would empty the tank and clean it out with some acetone or something. Also the carbs should be cleaned.

I would also change out the hoses in the fuel system. after a period of time gasoline produces a sticky "film" A.K.A Varnish. it will gum up everything and sticks like glue. and of course clean the carbs.
