Tell him $500 since he can't get it started and you'll have to go out of pocket to tow it home. If the fairings are in good condition, go as high as $750 (cause you might end up parting it out)
Don't say anything about parting it out.Just offer 5 bills.

Don't EVER buy a motor unless you hear it run. Then do a leakdown.

actually guys, after reading all about it ive decided a 600 isnt the right bike for me, simply because it will be my first bike. i would much rather get something smaller and not die and then upgrade in a year or so. which is the much smarter option.
so im gunna get a kawi ninja 250, because no one seems to make 250 sportbikes besides kawi. i know im gunna get flamed for this, but its my decision and im sticking with it. :P

I would rather see a fellow rider on a smaller bike he can learn on than to ride a 600 and get scraped off the pavement within a week

No flames here. Applause

It takes a great deal of wisdom and character to make a decision like that. Most guys would let their ego push them onto a 1k waaaay before they're ready. A 600 isn't a mild bike either.

I will say this though: I think you'd actually do fine on a 600 as your first bike. Just the decision you're making says you'd rule the throttle, not let the throttle rule you.

thanks guys.
yea i read somewhere that the earlier CBR600's arent too bad, like the f2, f3s. and im pretty sure i could control them, its not like a small guy, 5'9" 200lbs- played hockey and football. but id rather be safe and alive. haha especially in the news just today a bike got hit by a SUV not far from where i live. i deffinately dont need to have too big of a bike AND people not knowing how to drive hit me
