Not starting
Okay,
First off - I'm sorry. I feel like a tool. In 3 days I've come up with 3 topics based around my lack of knowledge with this bike, and I'm just scared of having bought a 2k lemon.
Here's my situation today:
I fired it up this morning, and it seemed to be okay. I let it warm up a bit, then I shut it down. This afternoon, I fired it back up, it was a little hesitant, so I threw on the choke, and let it idle outside. I went back inside to grab my helmet and jacket, and when I came back out, it was dead. Tried re-starting a few times to no avail. In fact, after a couple tries, the battery was right dead.
Threw the battery on a charger for about an hour, put it back in the bike, tried again. The first few cranks seemed to have enough juice to turn over the engine, however the motor would not actually fire.
As it stands right now, the battery is on the charger over night and we'll see where we are tomorrow. I've probably flooded it too.
Any other ideas? There is fuel in it. I dont get it. It fired up, so it had spark, it has fuel, its been running fine with no smoke or anything other then the CCT noise? How can it be okay one second, and then just give up?

my guess would be dirty carbs. also, check ur plugs make sure they are not fouled. do you have a repair manual? it has trouble shooting tips to go thru which should narrow down ur search for the problem

Is the petcock open? You didn't have it on the reserve (up) and burn through the reserve tank, right?

No, the petcock is set to on, and theres plenty of gas in it. Also, no, I dont have the repair manual yet. Trying to find one locally so I dont have to wait for it off Ebay, however that seems to be the route I'm going to have to go.
So, I put the battery on the charger all night in hopes it simply didnt have enough juice to get it to fire. Put the battery back in this morning, still no dice. Changed plugs, as they were old (altough nothing out of the ordinary) and still nothing. Tries to turn over, but it simply sounds like its out of gas. No weird noises, nothing. Tried bump starting, couldnt stay on for more then half a second.
So on the truck she went, and over to the local bike shop. I'm now awaiting diagnosis. I'm hoping its simply dirty carbs or botched fuel pump or something like that. I hope its nothing serious.. but.. you never know with a 14 year old bike that you just picked up.
