929 not starting
I have an 00' 929. I was problems with not starting due to battery drainage. Bike would startif I was in traffic or at low rpm bike would stop and not restart w/out a jump. or run but not start the next morning. I changed out the stator, now the battery is not showing a drain, but i can't get it to start. motor is turning, can hear the starter turning, its got compression, can hear the fuel pump run when I turn it on. I didn't touch anything, but the stator now it won't start. Am I missing something stupid?

RE: 929 not starting
when you crank it does it die out really fast ? if so the other option that you have over looked is the regulator/rectifier . it is the most common reason for charging system woes in my opinion. also if its not draining (battery power) and is just not starting i would check the B.A.S (bank angle sensor also refered to as the "tip" over sensor)

RE: 929 not starting
ok but what you need to understand is that the 3 main components of the charging system are your battery, stator (alternator) and your regulator/rectifier. now when either one of these pieces begings to break down or wears out it starts to effect the others by putting a strain on them.
so when your battery was going out it put a starin on the r/r and the stator.. then you replaced the stator thinking that would fix the problem but it didnt. because the damage was also done to the r/r and not allowing the battery to function fully . the stator also will not charge untill it reaches around 3k rpms. so with the charging system compromised this much replacing it one piece @ a time will only lead to them beging to degarde again. its the dominoeffect.
so you said the r/r was replaced over a 1yr 1/2 ago you wouldve slowly been causing damage to the other components and could very easily need to be replacedagain..
now that i have said my opinion what i would recommend it that you go into the general section and look @ the sticky that shows how to diagnose your charging system and you will be able to see exactly is the problem without having to play the guessing game.
