is this the GSX-R reg/rec that you guys are talking about? It says it came off of an '04 600 but will fit the 750's and 1000's too...also, is this going to FIX my reg/rec problems? will the thing still get as hot as it does now? tell me if this is what I need?! thanks alot...

PS. there are others on Ebay but this one is way cheaper....thats why I was wanting to know if it will fit and fix my problems!

Sure looks like it. 5 wires. 3 black, 1 black/white, and 1 black/red.

I just ordered one from an 06 GSXR 1000yesterday for the same price (after shipping charges) and will install it when I get it. My freaking leg gets so damn hot when I ride and I burned my finger when I touched it the other day. The new one should be cooler as it has the large heatsink.

 

my legs get hot too...WTF is with these R/Rs? thats a crappy problem for EVERYONE to have...

man if you think it'll fit, I may just buy it...thats cheap...where did you get yours? eBay? find me a GSX-R 1000 R/R for that price!!

I did a search at some point and found at least one member who did the conversion and at least named years for a 1000. I then started looking at the wiring and connector plugs for the bikes and realized that nearly all the bikes after 2000 used one that looked the same. There is also a different one that has 2 plugs and like 8 or 9 wires, so don't get that one. I also found out that a R/R from an R1 will also work, but the wires may be different and one may have to tie off wires and do a bit more work to get that one to install correctly. The one I got was from an eBay seller that had several on Auction and I asked if he would end the auction for a $25 price plus the $10 shipping he was asking.

The way I look at it, the wires connect to the same with no extras anywhere and the bikes all use 12v to run and batteries all need a certain amount of current to charge and stay charged. Any energy not used gets dissapated as heat through the heatsink. (plus the GSXR R/R seems to put out better voltage at lower RPMs which is a good thing for street riding IMO)

ok well thanks...I saw a guy on eBay yesterday that had a bunch and it said to call him for the one you wanted...maybe thats the same guy you bought from?

can you tell me the user name of the guy you bought from? id like to just go ahead and get the one for the 1000 that YOU KNOW FITS

EDIT: Ive seen about every R/R thread on this site...I just want to make certain that the one I buy off ebay will work on my bike...thats why I gave you the URL so you could see if you thought that one would fit

^^yes...its right behind that throttle side back fairing...not just a foot behind where your *** rests...

i looked at my R/R just a bit ago and I think mine has fins on it?!?!?!....maybe the previous owner replaced it with something else? im gonna take a pic tonight and post up the pic and let you guys see if you think its the stock one

 

mine was the same way, the wire colors even matched the original, but the r/r was huge. and the harness was changed to something off another bike. its weird.
