more R/R issues?
ok so I've had the big problems with my R/R just like everyone else. The problem with mine was that the wires running into it had bad connections. When I got in there and looked around, it looked like some of the wires were burning in two. We checked them all for shorts that could be making them overheat and burn in two but everything checked out fine. All the wires are patched up now and I havent really had any problems in a few weeks. But yesterday I ride around for like 10 minutes, pull over and check the wires running into the R/R and find that some of them are too hot to hold on to. Is this normal? Do you think I have a short somewhere or what? Also, the R/R was incredibly hot. Way hotter than the wires. Couldnt even lay a finger on it. Now I have seen that these R/R's are bad about going out and not being good but does this sound like a problem some of you had? Im gonna do a quick search on that heat grease or whatever but let me know what you think?
also, yesterday I noticed that for a while, when I got to about 8k-12k RPM, the bike kinda bogged down and was sluggish and sputtering, but about 0k-7k it was smooth as silk...but then after about 15 minutes of riding, itnow longer sputtered at highRPMs...what could this be?thanks
EDIT: after doing some searching, here is my thing...Im not so worried about the R/R getting really hot...Im more worried about those wires getting really hot and burning in two...is the really hot R/R causing the heat in the wires or is the heat in the wires causing the R/R to get hot? you tell me...should I just replace the R/R? the only way I want to replace the R/R is if im 99% sure that I wont have any problems with it anymore! I guess what im trying to say is, i dont want to replace the R/R unless it will"FIX" my problems!help!!!!
