main relay bad?
ok so i was out riding and my bike just died on me nothing worked except my headlight which is on a seperate switch from the rest of the bike. i stripped everything down to get to all the wires and check my main relay fuse and it is blown so i go ahead and replace it and my other fuses seemed ok but with a few what looked like burns on them but not broken. as soon as i go to plug the main relay back in my reg rectifier begins smoking like its over heating but the bike is turned off so there shouldnt be any extra power going to it. well i hurry up and unplug it and i look down and my new fuse i had just put in had started to melt/break inside after only a few seconds. now i know there has to be a short somewhere but i looked over all my wires and saw no burnt or melted ones anywhere other than the ones at my rectifier which i figure was from it over heating but it is an aftermarket one designed to deal with the notorious reg/rec problem so my question is could there be a short in the main relay. the bike will still start and turn over and run but the rectifier began smoking as soon as i shut it off which again was odd since the stator wasnt on. any ideas?

also just wanted to add i think the relay is off of a newer F3 because F3 is written in big letters on it. also wanted to ad the battery is only a few weeks old and i had it tested and it is fine just came back it needed to be charged because during all this with the smoking of the rectifier my battery completely drained from a full charge to nothing in a matter of maybe 30 seconds

Sounds like your R/R is shot... you can get a wiring test walk through pretty easily if you search... you will need a multimeter to test with.
