Default Locked key in bike

When I parked my bike, my key fell on the frame and slid under the tank. I couldnt reach it so my friends and I literally lifted it on the front wheel, then back wheel, shook it like mad and it never fell out. Spent 2 hours looking and nothing. I am to the point where I feel I have to get a locksmith or change the chamber. Any ideas? Oh... and the steering is locked.

Thanks for the help. But I already took out the right and left fairings, right and left rear fairings, the seat, tank, and top portion of the airbox and still nothing. Its not that cant reach for it; cant even find the damn thing. Already checked the ground all around the bike, so, it HAS to be in there.

It's probably sitting on the engine somewhere... My bet is between the carbs and head, or near the starter

Get a magnetic pickup tool and go hunting. Cheaper than a locksmith.

It got a socket out of the engine I dropped in there once (don't ask)

+1

Did same thing years ago, but with a lock key, and not only recovered the key, but a couple of screws, a nut, and an old valve core.
