Default Just picked up a F2 (finished)

Hey All, First post. I picked up this CBR600F2 On tuesday.

The engine was stuck when I got her home, so I fixed the starter sprag, went thru the carbs, found the spark put her all back together, and I was able to ride this around for a little bit. Not a comfortable ride yet, but the seat will help! I just wanted to check the transmission and go thru a couple of gears. She runs great and is pretty strong. Since I was not riding with a gas tank, I just poured gas into the float bowls and kept the test ride shorter than the amount of gas that was in the bowls!

The bike is pretty much complete, just a couple of broken/bent pieces.

Now my delima. On Tuesday, I was laid off from my job (Architecture in California is tough right now with the recession) but honestlyit is ok, I was really stressed out andneededa vacation! So I needed to figure out what to do, and I do my best thinking in my garage when I am working/fixing something. So,I figured I would pick up a quick project bike, fix it, a figure things out, and then sell it. I picked the bike up Wed. night and had it running yesterday (Thursday). Come to find out that this bike is a much nicer bike than my current commuting bike (well, not in its current state... its busted up, I mean in general, it is a better design) So, I am contemplating keeping this bike and selling my ninja. I have always liked the CBRs but never owned one.

A couple of things I am looking for are:
Main Fairing Stay
Gas Tank
Windshield

Any help finding these parts would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
-P

I've never seen an F2 in those colors before. I really lik.e them. Good luck Superfly!

When I last checked on Corbin seats for F2s they were no less than $200.00 new. Maybe you can find one on ebay for less. I'm too lazy right now to check, though...

Sup superfly, I think I saw that craigslist add for your bike that you picked up. If you look through the classifieds section, there was a guy with a f2 fairing stay for sale for less than 100. I would pick it up and its perfectly straight.

As for the f2 color, I believe that color came out in 92.

Hey All.

I just finished up my F2, which now is on a F3 Frame. I was having a problem at the DMV with the fees, (over $460 in back fees....) so I picked up a 96 F3 frame and swapped the bike over. Everything fit perfectly fine except the radiator. I snapped a few progress pic's thru the process (to remember where everything went!)

The best part about doing something like this is going thru everything, deep cleaning the bike, and greasing up all theberrings (swingarm, steering stem, etc...) and basically giving the bike a really deep once over.

On my test ride I went up to Muholland Dr. here in Los Angeles to give hera test on a twisty mountain road, and to take a few nice pic's of the finished bike.

I really like this bike! It is a blast to ride. A friend of mine helped me shoot some videos of the bike when I was riding her on the freeway. Even though the bike is a little thicker than the bikes I usually ride, it is still a good bike for lane splitting out here in LA. But, unfortunately, I think I still need to sell her. I added some music I wrote/played on the video also. For the record, working on bikes and being a musician do not go well together, I do NOT have the hands of a guitar player anymore.... HAHAAA!
