I'll get the VIN tonight. I think phil is on to something. I think my cam timing might be off or there is a problem with the CDI box. Guess I'll have to break off the valve cover and check timing. This bike was a rebuilt title bike that I got for 450 and converted into a street fighter. God knows what people have done to it.

The intake seems to be a tooth off, but I am not sure how perfectly they line up. Here is a pic of the intake came on Top dead center. Does this look a tooth off?

Yes, I definitely agree. Your intake cam is off 1 tooth. The cam marks should line up right with the top lip of the case.

Great pics, worth a 1000 words when trying to diagnose these kinds of problems

Just what I was thinking. I tried to slip it back a tooth, but it seems like I'll have to remove the cam to do this. I have the tensioner out, but still can't get it to slip back a tooth. Do I have to unbolt the cam to make this happen?

Just pulling the tensioner won't do it. Yes, I'm fairly sure you'll have to loosen all the cam cap bolts and lift up the cam holder in order to move it a tooth.

It's been a bit since I last did this. Last one I did was a Kawi and I've still got that pig stuck in my head.

Should be able to grab the chain and just roll it over the cam one tooth at a time with the tensioner out... This works on my other bike anyway, haven't done this on the F2.
