Gold Valves, Fork Springs, Other Questions
Hi, I've been using this forum a lot for all the valuable info but I haven't made any posts yet. I've started into a big winter / early spring project (started out as a winter project but come on let's be realistic lol) and I've decided that I want to include the suspension. The bike is a '92 F2 and the biggest issue for me is front end dive under braking. From what I've read, it seems like I would want to go with a gold valve cartridge emulator or '94 F2 internals. Is one better than the other or is it just a question of price and availability? Also, am I going to want to upgrade the fork spring? Straight or progressive rate? If I do this to the front, will I need to upgrade the rear as well? When searching for gold valves for the front I came across one that is supposedly for the rear (says only ;94 though?). Would this be beneficial? What other rear options do I have if you think I should upgrade the rear?
I would say the bike sees mostly spirited street riding but I would like to get to some track days. I am typically 155 - 160 lbs when riding. I used to ride in NJ a lot (school / co-op) but I don't think I am going to bring it back once I'm done so the extremely terrible roads in Hudson County wont be a factor anymore. I can tolerate higher than normal rigidness as my car suspensions are also pretty stiff too but I have to keep in mind that this is mostly street ridden.
I don't want to do an F3 front swap. My project is already big enough as it is.
Here is a pic of my bike.
I was going to leave it alone but a small accident provoked this big project.
So let me know what you think. Thanks
