Default Get this done and out of the question the first time

I have a bunch of noob questions and I was seeing if they would be answered. I have a 94 F2 600. With this it has 18k on it. With this I am a mechanic on the other dark side(automotive). So I keep thinking things should be similar. Let me know when I am wrong.

Cleaning Chain: Clean with kerosene by wiping it on it. Come back and oil with a gear oil? With the gear oil recommendation. Can it be like a 75w90 like automotive?

Cables: Can you oil with WD 40 and if access wipe it clean?

Coolant: 50/50 Peak Mixture? Green Ethylene Glycol?

Tire Pressure Recommend: 30psi?

Spark plug gap: ?

Wire resistance: Ill ohm out on that one and see if its over a allowable tolerance in my book.

Oil: Can you use a motor oil? Also what kind of weight?

Anything else I am missing? Please fill in the blanks for the most part. This is great since this gives other new guys as well a break down on what to look for and to get.

use chain lube on the chain after cleaning. Using motor oil will make a mess all over the side of your bike

Plug gap, check the manual for your bike

coolant can be done like that or use a bike specific coolant (non-slick)

Wd-40 works on everything

tire pressure, depends on how you ride, 30psi frnt, 35psi rear is good.

I use Rotella in the blue jug in my bike

Ya, I just recently drained and put in some Peak coolant at 50/50. My old coolant mustve been pretty old because my bike is running much cooler than it was.

I have a slow leak in both my front and rear, so my tire pressure is always bouncing around. I prefer it at 45 front, and 55 rear.

Just put in Valvoline 10w 40

And ya, use chain lube.

Cleaning Chain: Clean with kerosene... then lube with good chain lube

Coolant: use something with LOW or NO silicates (they are the self cleaning molecules but they screw with the seals)

Tire Pressure Recommend: 30psi? seems low to me... I like 40ish

Oil: Can you use a motor oil? No! .... 10/40 is good but use MOTORCYCLE oil ... Amsoil is good but pricey

As I understand it, it would only be a bad thing to run higher than what is suggested.

Running lower can increase the size of your contact patch thereby increasing your grip. To a point. Farther than that will be too soft and you'll squidge all over. Also, your mileage will drop. I think your wet traction might suffer if you drop more than about 2/3 PSI, but I can't quite remember.

I personally feel more feedback from the front nearer to 36 than 30. And that's just city riding, no track.

Thanks for the feedback guys. You have been great with me.

The only thing I can see going to low(thinking car's since I am from the dark side) is based on that you do increase tire wear and could have negative effects when shedding water in wet conditions based on the contact path is great(could be wrong). Positive side is that it does give you a greater contact path. With this at the track days you will gain psi as the heat is warmed up from the tires causing it to rise. Yet in street conditions(I live in MN) its cooler so you might not have this yet loose pressure based on the cold.

Keep it coming guys. This is great.
