The oil they gave you is fine, but you can get a gallon of rotella t6 5w-40 synthetic at walmart for about $20 or if you want to use conventional you could use rotella triple t 15w-40 for about $13.

10W-40 is recommended for the F4i. You would be safe using that oil if that is your concern.

Many people on the forum here run Shell Rotella T6 as chambers said because it's cheap, easily obtainable, and comes in gallons. I personally run Rotella T6 on both my F4i.

Just remember once you go full synthetic, you can't go back to regular oil.

BIG thing to think of do you have a OEM clutch or after market????? depending on what you have the friction reducers in synthetic can cause havoc on certain clutch disk... oem clutch go synthetic you should see some improvements in temps and smoothness of the bike.... synthetic is extremely uniform at a atomic level and provides the best flow through the engine....

Not to Hi-Jack this thread. When going full Syn Oil how would one proceed? Just do a Reg Oil change and put in new oil and filter and run with it or put in new oil and filter and run bike for a lil while to flush the old oil out like a radiator flush?

Right now I am running standard Honda Oil and me being OCD on a newly acquired 600f4i with 30k On the clock I like to make her last as long as possible.

Do a full drain (from a hot engine). No need to flush your system.

Thank You!

I am in the midst of writing up a common issues and maintenance article to post up and hopefully be stickied. I've only been a member a little while but I see no common questions asked thread.

No problem.

We're all broken records here.
