Fueling and Stalling issues
Hey ya'll, I'm brand new here but I figured you could help me with a little problem I'm having with my F2.
Today I took my bike out for a ride. When I left I had around 1/3 of a tank of fuel left. About 20 miles into the ride the bike stalled. It wouldn't restart, so I popped the clutch. It ran for about 200 yards and then stalled again. I figured I had ran it out of gas, but when I opened the tank I still had 1/4 tank left.
I tried to start the bike up, but it wouldn't stay running unless it was choked all the way. I finally got it running, but it sputtered and died about 1.5 miles down the road. So I switched it to reserve and limped it home.
I got all the way home, and shut the bike off. I tried to start it back up, but it wouldn't start on reserve tank or the main tank.
So I put some gas into the tank, and like magic it started right up.
Would it be safe to assume that a vacuum line maybe be cracked or kinked? Could it also be out of sync carbs, or dirty carbs?
Any help is appreciated, thank you.

my guess... your petcock is plugged up at the reserve setting. it was unable to pick up fuel on the bottom 1/4 tank. you filled it and brought it up over the level of the blockage.
+1 to 74demon, Sounds like it to me too. As long as the gas sloshed around, it keep the bowls mostly full. When you stopped, the gas settled and the bowls ran dry.
Drain the tank (syphon if you have to), give the dregs time to evaporate (air/fuel ignition in the empty tank would be the start of a bad day). Then pull the petcock.
Attached to it is a long tube with screening on it. see if that is all clogged/gummed up.
That's my best bet, anyway. Ern

Thanks for the help ya'll.
The bike ran better on the reserve setting than it did on the main tank. When I filled the tank a little bit more, then it started to run on the main tank setting.
I'll definitely be pulling the tank off this winter. I need to clean the carbs, and have them synced as it is.
If the petcock is clean, what should plan b be?
