Default Fuel key turn which direction?

Trying to revive an F2 that's been sitting for past 6 years. Absolutely can't get the gas tank open at this point. Have sprayed WD-40 several times over past day. Can someone at least tell me which direction the key is supposed to turn to open the tank... clockwise or counterclockwise? What are my options if I can't get the tank unlocked?? Thanks

Should be counter clockwise, try undoing the hex bolts around the lock see if it will lift out, but don't force it, a little bit of pressure on the cap each time you try to turn the key should help

So far it seems to be clockwise. I'm now able to turn key from noon position (standing on left side of bike) to 5:00. Can someone tell me how far is the key supposed to turn before it pops open? The lip where it says "Push Lock" is trying to come open but nada. Removing bolts around lock didn't help matters. Thanks

Should be 90 degrees. Try turning it only 90 and giving it some encouragement. There should be some resistance when turning. If it spins easy, the lock isn't turning anything inside.

Might be in the market for one of these:

Looking at one myself...the key thing gets to be a hassle.
