For 3 I run a continental contisport, best tire? maybe not but it was free. I can stand my F2 up in third gear and crack the tire loose IF desired, it doesnt just whip out from under me. (I'm broke, and the one time my front wheel has seen air was on accident trying to show off for a couple girls in a miata at a stop light, and I about crapped my pants... oh crap, I sounded like an idiot again!)

You only know about the girls in the miata because it was your mom I was showing off to. Why would you put that out there for everyone to see. I was going to leave it between us bro. Oh well.

Usually threads with a title like "fatter tire" end up interesting.

almost hate to bump this thread, but what the hell....

Given the scenario of needing a new rear wheel & tire which route would you go.

For my Smokin Joe replica, I'll have to paint whatever I get to match. I'm finding that F2/F3 & 900RR wheels all are running in the same price range. Tires are relatively the same cost.

So, if you had to replace it all, which route would you take?

You only need to get new spacers for an F3 rim right? I think... Id go that route, and even then I'd only go that route if you ride very aggressive.

No need for a 900rr tire. If you can lose your f2 rear wheel you are doing something wrong or your suspension is unbelievably shot.

even weirder bump....this thread will never die.

how narrow do you think I can go on the stock 4.5" rim?

I'm trying to inject some modern flavor to an older sport-cruiser for general runabout duty. F2 front end swap complete with front wheel is going on, so I need to try and squeeze a matching F2 rim into the stock swingarm of a 79 Yamaha XS 650.

I get the feeling I'll be better off doing a swingarm swap tho.

You could stretch the **** out of a 140, but I doubt it would hold. You can definitely run a 150...

not sure how narrow you can go. Too narrow and id be afraid a bump would break the bead. Plus, keep in mind the profile would flatten out giving you bad turning feel.
