[hr] what would be the problem of a bike getting stuck in a gear?

im rolling to a stop i down shift and then suddenly my bike gets stuck in 3rd gear...i tried moving it back and forth while trying to shift and it doesnt want to go into a lower gear, so i end up having to start in 3rd gear after a stop, thus burning my clutch...

You're going to have to pop off your clutch, remove the shift linkage, and inspect it... the shift from 1st to 2nd is the most violent, and if the shift drum breaks, you've have problems. If the shift drum or shift linkage isn't broken, you've got to pop the oil pan off and check the shift arms.

If THEY'RE ok, check the teeth on your gears.

 

Oh wait, you're going to have to take off the oil pan and the shift arms if you want to take the drum out...
