Default 94 F2 sp sp spu spu sputter

I am looking at getting this bike its a 94 clean title F2 with 14800 on the clock. He only wants 1400 but I talked him down to 1200, but there's a problem. The bike sputters down low and you can definitly tell that it is running rich just from the smell. It also has some white smoke coming out of the exhaust. It was started up today for the first time in about 1.5 weeks and was dripping some oil or gas mixture from right were the slip on attach's to the header. I know the guy who has it pretty good and it has never burnt any oil. Does it just sound like a carb issue? Maybe it needs new jets? Think it just needs the carbs tunned and so it is running really rich? Any info would be awesome! Thanks...

I'd say if the bike hadn't been run in a while, its prob not gas/oil mixture thats leaking out where the slipon attaches. Its probably condensation... thats what the white smoke is anyways.

if it IS gas.... well then how the heck is it getting THAT far past the exhaust valves!!?!??

Sounds like it just needs the carbs cleaned like mad, possibly re-jetted, and probably synched up again. no big deal, tahts a great deal on the bike.

Ya the stuff dripping was condensation mixed with a little carbon build up. This is normal -- all engines produce water and CO2 as a result of combustion. When it's cold out you see steam coming out of the pipe but it goes away quickly. If the 'smoke' smells like oil then you have oil getting past the rings. Ask to check the plugs -- no doubt will remain after that.

Most likely the sputtering is what jp233 said -- need to be cleaned, jetted correctly and synched. I posted about this a couple of days ago -- peeps throw all kinds of expensive goodies at the bike like slip-ons, jet kits, hi-performance filters and the like but they won't spend a little extra to have it dyno'd with a sniffer to make it work right then complain about how crappy it runs[:@]

Buy the bike -- even if the rings are gone thats a great deal
