So I picked up ANOTHER F3 parts bike. I mostly did it because I needed the front wheel and rotors. It just so happened that someone was selling an F3 with a bum motor for $325, so I drove 5 hours round trip to get it.
The front wheel alone goes for $140-200 on ebay, without rotors.
It's pretty rough, but actually has both side fairings and the front cowl with windscreen.
Too ****ty to sell, so I may eventually try fixing some tabs with abs plastic repair kits then do a bit of body filler and or fiberglassing, just to see what happens.
So here is what I'm excited about:
F4i gauge?
Shiny wheels. Has chips, rash, but over all both wheels are in good shape.
More importantly, the front rotors are in GREAT shape.
SS braided rear brake line. Has a plastic coating on it, says goodridge.
Unlike the other F3 parts bike, this one came with the carbs, rear brake light, and a muffler of dubious quality.
Damage
From what I was told, the owner that did the damage, ran it low on oil.
Which makes sense considering he had a massive oil leak some where. The bottom fairings were oozing. The stator cover was covered UP TOP. Just messy.
The left passenger peg has the built in oem helmet lock too!
That makes me happy.
I'm swapping the F3 front end over to the F2 this weekend, after changing fork oil and seals. I'm using both the front and rear wheels from this f3 on the F2, after changing tires of course.
I've now got 3 bikes and none of them run

Or at least tons of spare parts. I had 3 at one point.
I ended up selling my main one a couple of years ago, and vowed to not get back into that kind of situation.....
But old used bikes are so much cheaper :P
My great grandfather used to ride and rebuild old Yamaha and Suzukis.
He had parts hanging from the wall and ceilings of the barn AND garage.
I told my mom how the garage is starting to remind me of that, she just shook her head and said "Oh god".

Kiwi born, I know, right? I can get things shipped to Sweden, no problem, but it costs a fortune and I have to pay for customs as well. These guys have donor bikes, parts and tools cheap within an arm's reach. Life is unfair. Next life I'll definitely spend in Oregon or someplace like that.

Land of the free bike parts, home of the cheap parts bikes.
I think it actually comes down to our mass consumerism and throw away lifestyle. No one HAS to fix anything, and few know how, as evidenced by the condition of the bikes I'm finding :P
I was reading an article about a man in Austin, Texas that pull's in an average of $2,500 worth of stuff a NIGHT by digging in commercial trash.
He digs in the bins from office supplies stores, electronics stores and home supply stores.
Finds all kinds of usable stuff that he turns around and sells on craigslist and ebay.He makes almost as much doing that part time as he does from his Computer security gig.
Why didn't anyone want to ship a water pump to NZ.
Is customs paperwork that much of a pain?
