If your bike is not jetted already, you will notice a significant throttle response difference if you jet and properly set your float heights. And about getting bored of your bike, ive had mine for 4 years and im not bored of it yet.

thanks for all the info guys i appreciate it! and yea getting bored of the Cane wont happen for a quite some time for me id imagine. how much do jet kits go for about?

The Hurricane was and is and a great bike. I am a Honda guy so I am not disrespecting the bike. I was just mentioning his young age, 18 and inexperience with bikes therefore I generalized that since he was born in 1992? a 1988 Cane will probably go through him quickly. It is not like he grew up loving the bike like I did the 1984-1986 Nighthawks when I was young. Of course I didn't have two pennies to rub together therefore no new Nighthawk for me. So what do I do 25 years later. I bought a 1986 red, white and blue Nighthawk 700S. It was fun for a while but a year later I bought a VFR and then a CBR 600 a year after that. There is only so much money and room in the garage and you can't keep them all, or so my wife says.

lol its understandable tom. but im the kinda guy who finds something he likes and sticks with it! but how would you have known that, just like you said! (not being sarcastic i meant that!)
and also kinda a cool fact pertaining to your post, for the past two years (prior to the CBR of course) i have been riding a 1984 Nighthawk 650! ironic, isnt it? and by the way i love that bike to death, even though its rightfully my uncles! needs a good carb cleaning to be a good ride this year, but im sure ill get around to it and enjoy a few rides on my first bike i got to ride

...............There is ALWAYS enough room in the garage, and when its full, there is always the Living Room and the Kitchen, and if big enough that corner in the bedroom.

i picked up a 520 conversion set. from vortex. the front is -1 (i think my 87 was 15 stock?) and +2 on the back. the 87 i believe had 44 stock and now i have 46. i had a 47 on the rear but didnt like how high it reved at highway speeds. i have heard horror stories about the aluminum rear sprocket but i have one and it works great for me. they sell some sort of black sprocket that has a teflon coating or something like that but the guy from vortex said it was a waste of money for this bike because it doesnt have enough power to worry about breaking the sprocket. as for sound i have a vance and hines pipe. its the original vance and hines not the ss2 and its hollowed out. damn does that sound mean. i have a couple vids on youtube under vdubracer33. i have seen the exhaust for the hurricane 1000 but not the 600 so i have no idea where they guy got it from. it was on my bike when i got it

Ha! I rode an '85 Nighthawk before the Hurricanes came out. It was a nice bike but doesn't compare with my Hurricane. I have a -1, +2 sprocket set up right now and honestly it revs too high at highway speeds. Got to get to the canyons somehow, you know! Next time I will try a 0, +2 and see how that works. I used to ride the bike in the canyons and on club track days bone stock everything and it was just fine. Had a club member show me how it was 'meant' to be ridden. He was WAY faster than me. Anyway, modded or not, learn how to ride well and you won't have to have any mods!
