Well for i couldn't edit my last post. Meant to say speedo but since I'm doing this on my cell it autocorrected it to speeding.
But anyway i think my front dropped about 1/4 inch going from a bridgestone over to the pirelli tire whichever shouldn't be bad on you handling wise.
btw that's a nice cane ya got there.

Oh yeah I didn't think about the speedo being off either.. I guess it's not really a big deal though. I'm not sure which way I'll be going yet, but when I eventually buy tires I'll post my impressions up on here.

Thanks for the compliment, I just finished rebuilding the bike from the frame up a couple weeks ago..

It would definitely have some rear end walk with a 170 on the rear. My bike had a 150 crammed on it when i got it and had the same problems. Rear would feel like it kicked out in a curve and didn't track good on uneven surfaces.
I am running a 140 and its nice and tight feeling. I think that's as big as you can go without having handling problems.

Where are you guys getting your tires through? Anybody know of online vendors running specials right now?

Also, any recommendations on brand/model. I mainly cruise around and don't hit the twisties that hard. Looking for a decent tire to cruise on, I'll also be riding a lot more to and from work so the longer the tread life the better.

Looking to go with a 110 front and 130 rear, or 120 f 140 r. Right now the bike has 120-70 front and 130/80 rear.

I get my tires through whoever has the sizes I need. Our tires are not the most common any more.
For decent riding tires I would read through the by series bridgestones. They have decent enough grip for regular riding. They just didn't feel comfy to me when I was leaning hard in the corners.

Yeah, I ended up going to cycle gear to check out what they had. I got quoted $107 for a 110-70 and $132 for a 130-80, both Conti Go's. Not sure if I'm going to go through them just yet, waiting to hear back from a buddy about a shop he knows, want to see what they can do first before I commit.

Conti Go is what was on the rear of the bike and I liked the feel of it for how I rode. Don't know how some of you are getting the deals you're getting. I checked on the pirelli sport demons and they were 300 for the set.

Hi
I definitively use 110/70x17 and 150/70x17 modern tyres (Dunlop Rodsmart) and the drive is really fantastic. 150/70 rear diameter is +/- equivalent to 130/80 so no hight change, only front is a little bit lower witch is not bad for driving.
Long life to these bikes.
best. Patrick from france

I started a new thread regarding switching to radial tires, but wanted to post an update in here as well.

I mounted a set of Avon Azaro radials in 110/80-17 and 140/80-17 on the bike today. I haven't broken them in completely yet, but the difference in handling is huge. The bike feels much more nimble and flickable in turns, and also has a better road feel than the bias tires I have been using in the past.

I do not notice any negative effects at all from the switch. Those specific tires are designed for the rim widths of the Hurricane anyway though, so I did not expect to encounter any problems.

Just wanted to post up some real world experience with the radials since it was really hard for me to find any definitive info when I was looking. I would recommend radial tires 100% assuming the proper tire sizes for the wheels are being used.
