Tappy engine................
'90 cbr600f as per my sig......
When I start my bike in the morning it sounds fine at idle (bit tappy top end but nothing too worrying), i always let the bike warm up while i smoke a cigerette as i dont ride slowly when i get going.
by the time i pull up to a set of traffic lights (about a mile and a half from home) the bike sounds really tappy, almost clanky, its only at low revs, especially at idle. i notice it at low revs or idle at the next set of lights (another 2 miles), and by the time i get to work and park up its idleing fine, no tappy clank, just a bit of top end valve chatter
now it sounds like its more to the rear of the engine so I'm thinking the cct is on its last legs, i took it out and cleaned it up a couple of months back and it looks like the original item, but seemed to work fine to me (I read the cct thread on here but never done it before so unless something was seriously amiss i probably wouldnt have spotted it)
at first i thought it was the valves clearances but I did them when i checked the cct, and while I'm going to double check them when i get the chance to be sure i dont think thats at fault.
What do you guys think??? if you need any more info please ask
Many thanks
Dave

It could be your cct at fault. But in another direction listen to your fuel pump. I know on my 88 it has the oem fuel pump and it ticks. I thought it was something in the back of the motor that was trying to tell me something. I put my hand around it and it taps and the same time I hear the tick. Not trying to give false hope here. Just going off of what I hear on my bike.
cheers guys thats pretty much what i wanted to hear!!!
My fuel pump does make a loud tapping noise, but only when i forget to turn the fuel tap on!!
anyone know a good/cheap place to get a new cct????
