RE: Tail Conversion - 2005 RR
Before I got the bike, it was already set up for racing and had no passenger pegs. I'm gonna leave it like that. However, the tail doesn't seem to cover the passenger peg mounts. In fact, my muffler hanger hooks up to the right side passenger peg mount, and it fits just fine.
As for fender: I removed the stock rear fender. I thought it was ugly, but it wouldn't interfere with the new tail if I left it on. I made an undertail out of 1/8" ABS plastic. I used a propane torch to heat and stretch it to make a wheel well in it to get enough clearance. I also made a chain guard out of the same plastic. It's the same plastic that I used to make the side covers. It was $15 for a 4' x 4' sheet.
