Default Sprocket choice time.

I am building one of my hurricanes as a street fighter. It is only going to see use in town as a commuter. Stock sprockets are 15/44. I dropped to a 14 on the front before and was not impressed with the rate of wear on the chain.
I know the -1/+2 is a popular change however i was thinking of staying stock on the front and going up 3 to 4 teeth on the rear... does anybody know if the 110 link chain is long enough for this mod?

Are you sure the stock is 15/44? At least european(swedish) modell is 15/43.

I changed my sprockets from 15/43 to 14/47 and needed a new chain.

According to the fiche at Ronayers it should be 44 teeth but the shop manual lists it as 43/15 for the final drive ratio. Clymers lists it as 44/15 also.

Lings Honda orginalparts shows 43 rear HONDA motorcycle 1987 CBR600FH REAR WHEEL - Original Honda Parts | Lings Honda | Honda Motorcycles

However, 43 or 44 is not a big different at rear. After all, I went down 1 in front and 4 up at rear and chain was away to short.

I think the 47 is the maximum you get.(aside from stuntsprockets) If you go from 44 to 47(+3), it gives you about the same gearing as -1 in front.

How many links did you have to add?

Didnīt give a thought about that, but:
Original there are 110 links. I bought a chain with 120 links and cut it. Found in garage rest of it and there are 4 links left. It means that I have now 116 links and the wheelaxle is nearer in front than in middle of the adjust.

Did you keep the 530 chain or convert to 520?

When I dropped a tooth on the front sprocket it increased my rpm by about 500 at any given road speed. How fast is your engine spinning at 100km/ph in top gear with the -1/+4? 7000rpm +?
Also did the stock chain guard had to come off? I am guessing yes.

Chain guard is still there.

About rpm....I really donīt know. I have only ride with stock sprockets and roadtyres few metres. After that Iīve changed the sprockets, moved over the Acewell speedo...(donīt know the englis word, see the pic) to the new sprocket. My riding has been mostly on gravel with offroad tyres and snow with studded moto-x tyres. The tyres gives wrong speed(higher tyres) and I have no time to check much on the rpm and speeds
