Project: Father and Son Rebuild
Busy weekend! Spent the entire day Sunday getting stuff done. We can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! I spent most of the day getting the wire harness and all the functional pieces of the bike installed. Dad focused on the engine and getting it cleaned up. We also adjusted the valves, only 3 needed adjustment at 28,000 miles.

We had to repair the Honda logo on the engine case, dad was excited to do this, in fact he insisted. I'll let you know how it turns out!

Few pictures of the nasty engine. This year its going to be a basic tune, see what all is leaking and fix/repair as needed during the winter and have it dyno tuned also.

Is it just me or should that fuel pump be turned 180 degrees? I had a hard time getting the hose to lay into the bracket right. Can someone check theirs for me?

Thats pretty much it for now, didnt think we'd be this far this fast, project should be slowing down as we hunt for parts, get the plastics done, ect ect. Stay tuned more updates to come!

Thanks drakito, It was getting to the point that my brain was mushing out after staring at this thing all day. I'll take a look at it this Thursday!
jvandyke why won't yours run? Hudsonville is pretty close, nice to know there is another 600F in the area. I hardly see any around in this area.
What is everyone doing for spark plug wires? I looked at the local Honda dealers online site and they only have #3 available. All 4 of mine I feel should be changed. The boots are ripped, and I believe one is leaking intermittently through the protective coating. Are there aftermarket ones available? Can I make my own even?

Perhaps do the stick coil mod.

Tinkered with it. Fuel pump not getting juice, bypassed the Fuel Cut Relay just to start and run it. Wow, I'm not used to bikes like that, holy rocket Batman.
Hope everyone had a great Mothers Day. Mom was kind enough to allow Dad and I to work on the bike after dinner. I wanted to check compression before We installed the engine, just for my nit picking piece of mind. So we had about 130 on each cylinder. More like 128-132 with little variance between the 4.
We got the engine mounted in the frame with help from my brother in law. I cleaned up the wiring harness, checked for operation of the lights, mounted the rear sub frames, ignition switch and helmet holder. Got lots of little parts on order, still need to do a basic tune on the carbs and get the hand controls installed. But every day it's getting a little closer!
Thanks for looking this far, I appreciate the positive feedback from you guys.

Sebastion if you could e-mail the PDF for the stick coil mod i'd love to have that. I'm super interested in losing the super long plug wires and heavy coils. Thanks again for looking! Robert.
This looks great I am hoping to be able to do a similar restoration type overhaul this winter. And you have inspired me to go beyond what I initially intended. Are you bringing the paint back to factory or are you doing a more unique to you custom job?
