What are the positions on the petcock (off, on, reserve, prime)? I have an '87 I bought while living in Mexico. I has no handle on the pet ****. I have fabbed a wrench to operate it. Gas runs thru the carbs and onto the floor when the bike just setting up in one extreme position. The other extreme does not leak but is not off either. The bike runs fine with the valve in either position. It may have the wrong petcock. South of the border we kind of made do with what we could find. Of course, I do that back in the US also.

 

On= Up
Reserve=Down
Off=Back

 

Thanks. "Off is back" lets me know what is up and what is down... without having to take it off and blow through it.

 

i thought it was the other way around up was reserve middle was off and down was tank.

 

3 o'clock is Off

12 o'clock is ON (turn counterclockwise from Off or up)

6 o'clock is Reserve (turn clockwise from Off or down)
