Default Petcock/Fuel Valve Positions

Can someone please tell me what positions are what, for the Petcock/Fuel Valve?

I don't see any markings anywhere....currently it is pointing towards the rear of the bike. I assume that is "ON".

Thanks!

Pretty sure it's ...

Straight down for ON
Straight up for RESERVE
Side ways for OFF

your post is approved now so you should get a few more clues from the 600 guys too
I concur, Pointing up is reserve, pointing down is regular.

Really? FAAAAAAAAK...

The '88 Hurricane here has the Petcock pointing towards the rear...and it runs.

Runs quite well too.

Anyone have any pics of the bikes Petcock and where the positions are written?

Is it supposed to be right on the fairing?

I'm a tad concerned how well the bike runs with the Petcock in, what you kind gents are indicating, is the "OFF" position.

Is it turned all the way to the left or right? Your **** might just be on wrong. Also, Yes the bike will start and run for a while if it is in the off position until the float bowls empty

It's turned all the way Counterclockwise...and the Arrow is pointing towards the rear of the bike.

My apologies...I wasn't clear. It doesn't just run. It rides...it has been ridden several hundred KM and has had a few fill ups with the Switch in that position.

The **** is probably on wrong, you think?
Anyone have any pictures of their Petcock switch and the markings around it please?

So all the way counterclockwise is ON...and all the way clockwise is RES.

In the middle is OFF.
