Default petcock issue. rebuild? replace?

I was noticing something today on my bike, when the petcock is in the ON position, it doesnt flow as much fuel as it should be flowing, but in reserve, it allows a lot more gas to come out. is there some way to take the petcock apart, clean it and reassemble? or do I have to replace it?

oh yeah, where in holy hell do I find that black selector ****?

I had a couple of problems with the fuel tap over the years. First one was it started leaking... I took it apart and decided to replace it. They are not that expensive and if I screwed up rebuilding it and burnt my bike down I would be kickin my *** for a long time. The second problem I had was the damned screw that retains the **** kept coming loose. Id reach down to turn on the fuel and the **** would feel loose. I ended up using loctite on it and it hasnt come loose again. The side cover always kept the **** from falling off completely. I think you can still get one from honda if yours fell off.

the in tank filter at the petcock might be partialy blocked causing the low flow.

the petcock uscrews from the bottom of the tank, it takes a large wrench, i think i used like a 1 1/4". CAREFULY pull out the petcock and screen.the petcock doesn't come apart anymore, so you will just have to blow cleaner and air through it and the screen to clean it.

i have an extra **** if you need one.

From looking at the petcock, I noticed it appears to be riveted together on mine, but I'm not 100% certain.

Tripicana, I definitely could use that ****.

I drilled out the rivets... not much inside that can go wrong...big o-rings. I did not want to risk a fuel leak.

Did you replace them with anything or did you just get a new fuel tap?
