Noobie Q: vid - rear caliper upper mounting bolt removal.
Hey guys
the rear caliper upper mounting bolt doesn't want to come out easily ha ha. It's the last thing stopping me getting the caliper off. Have you ever found this when working on the rear brake? Any ideas let me know. I'm probably being overcareful but I don't want to brake anything. Thanks alot

Hi mate.
The bolt on mine just slides out once its undone thought if i remember i had trouble getting it out on mine the first time as it had corroded inside the caliper and once it was out i had to clean it off to allow it to side back in and out ok.
Your right about the thread too, it ends at the end of that bracket you pointed out and its a pin after that with 1 (maybe 2 i cant remember) flat sides on it

Hey guys
sounds like I've done the right thing so far. I've got all the thread out and can see the start of the pin. Where you would usually see the thread on the reverse side there is a blind hole which accepts the pin end of the bolt. From what you've said it must be just really dry and rusty. I can turn the bolt but it's pretty stiff and because of where it is its gonna be tricky to turn and pull it out.
Now I know it will come out eventually I'll just keep lubing and screwing the bolt back in and out until it comes out.
Thanks a lot for your replies dudes

Hey, so I got this thing out today by using the mounting bolt and the caliper like a drawbolt extractor kind of thing. Hard to explain but anyway it came out and was badly rusted. All cleaned up now and I found three flat sides after getting through the rust! Gonna clean up the caliper next and see how the pistons are operating.
