Non start issue
here's my problem. 88 600 starts just fine when cold. comes off choke almost immediately. runs like a champion. shut it off for a little while, and it will crank endlessly with no start. gets cooled down some, and starts fine. also, will sometimes start warm, and die in a minute or so. i'm thinking a weak fuel pump. any ideas, anyone?
How are the carbs? First step is always to clean them. Make sure your mixture is adjusted properly. If that doesn't help, it could be intake boot leaks. Make sure your clamps between the carbs and engine are tight. Check for exhaust leaks too.
If that doesn't solve it, try a cold and hot compression test. Cold compression is usually a bit higher than hot. If your <100, then you could have warn rings. Checking valve clearances may be suspect too.
Sorry for the dumping of 1000000 ideas :P
