No spark
I've got an 88 600F that I've be that I picked up from a friend who was neglecting it. It's got a whopping 100 miles on it and is pristine.
Last fall I rebuilt the carbs and got the bike running but did not get around to syncing them. So now I'm picking up where I left off and can't get the bike to fire. Somehow over the winter the fuel pump cut relay managed to fail as initially I could not get the fuel pump to run. I've temporarily jumper'd the relay connector so I can now the fuel pump runs and shuts off as it should when the float bowls are full. As far as I can tell I've got fuel but I have not pulled a plug to see if it wet. It sure smells like I have fuel getting to the CCs as the exhaust smells rich.
So, thinking I'm missing spark I've put a timing light on a plug wire and am not getting any pulses. I'm too lazy to actually pull a plug and check for spark. So assuming I really don't have spark does anyone know if jumpering the fuel cut relay somehow will inhibit the spark?
The way I understand the fuel cut relay is that it is supplied 12V on one of its three terminals. One of the terminals is connected to the spark unit and I believe the spark unit pulls this line to ground when it is firing the plugs. This causes the relay close and supplies power to the fuel pump.
I plan to order a new relay but wanted to get this thing running first. Any thoughts on how to proceed?

If it is an 88 there is no sidestand switch. The relay does not need to be energized all the time... the cdi pulses it. You are probably flooding it. Check your 10 amp fuse for the ignition system.
Check your power supply to the coil packs. You can then hook a light-probe to the ground side and check for the pulse. Your main switch may not be sending power to the unit, but it could just be a wiring issue to those coils.
