Hey all,

Just wanted to post, introduce myself, and get down to business.

My question is, just got an 87 hurricane 600 with 16181 ORIGINAL KMS on it, spent 2200 on a old hurricane but it runs MINT,

is there any maintenance I should be doing as the 3rd owner of this bike, just to ensure a trouble free operating season ahead?

I already did, Plugs, Wires (so expensive, OEM), oil filter and oil change, coolant flush, Thermostat and gasket, cleaned and lubed the chain, and before she comes out for the summer season I will perform once I get it to the shop, a Valve adjustment, and a carb sync and tune and fuel filter.

anything else I should be concerned with Mechanically ?

anyone actually hitting 10's with a relatively stock 87 -89 hurricane 600 ?
like honda claims it should run in the 1/4mi?

looks like you have about everything covered. i would add checking the brake pads, and flushing the brake fluid.

 

The hurricane can't do 1/4s in the 10s... at least not stock. Try high 11s/low 12s with a really good reaction time.

 

Well, the bike has a stage 1 jet kit, a full exhaust, and I am thinking about doing the 520 conversion, with a couple more teeth in the rear...

any thoughts on that .. or input ?

I have tried a similar setup. Unfortunately, the old girl just doesn't have any 10s in her. Unless you want to try nitrous or strapping it to the roof of a bugatti veron... Good luck.
