Looking to buy an '88 Hurricane
Hi all,
first time post. I am looking in buying a 1988 CBR1000 Hurricane.
Im usually a GXSR fan (dont kill me!) but this looked like a nice bike. Dont know too much about them. hoping to get some advice. Strong motors? good handling? etc
Craigslist Listing.
Would love to hear what you guys got to say about it, if it would be a good buy, if the bike is everything he says. thanks!
Here is a better pic of the actual bike....

Welcome to the Forum ! Please fill in your details so we know where you're from......
That bike is in original colours, and looks to be completely original, and if the inside maintenance is as good as the outside, you've got a winner. Motors are STRONG, handle well, mostly bulletproof. Price ? 11K is NOTHING on these engines !
Give us the Craiglist address, and we'll have a look at the description - there are a lot of fraudsters out there !
And there's nothing wrong with the GSXR except it doesn't have a Honda badge on the tank.....

Thanks. the craigslist is http://sacramento.craigslist.org/mcy/639659255.html he SAYS its been well taken care of, and I somewhat believe him since the fact of the outside of the bike is super clean. He is asking 3,500$ for it. and i'll update my profile. once again thanks for the info.

Nice bike! I wouldn't go more than 2,200-2,400 in our market. KBB Unless there are some undisclosed mods.
The weakest links on the early breed is the rear tire size limit of 150. You'll notice the Look of it later (Handling if fine, Heavy).
Lots of power for the breaking system of the day. That should be noticable right away if you Gixxer. Steel lines and Semi-Metalic pads may help.
I stayed with organics up front (an 87 w/33K)to preserve the rotors but would probably go s-metal next time.
Cam-Chain rattle, noticable. Many posts on that item alone.
regards,
