jump starting a bike
Serious?
Um, yeah. It matters. You mean jump starting from a car?
If it's at all possible, DON'T jump start it unless you're in a bind. Put the battery on a charger. BUT if you have to,
Connect the + (red) lead from the battery to the + (red) lead on the car battery. Hook the - (black) to either the - (black) terminal on each, or to the frame of the bike if you like.
DON'T TURN THE CAR ON. DON'T TURN THE CAR ON. DON'T TURN THE CAR ON. Car batteries and electrical systems are much heftier than the one on your bike, and it's possible you can hurt your little bike battery (and regulator, and stator, and CDI) if you zap it too hard.
start the bike then get that stuff off of there, black comes off first.
Serious, unless you're out on the highway or something, don't jump your bike from a car.
