Hey guys, just got a hold of a 1990 "cane". pearl white and grey. friends of mine's brother in law gave it to me b/c some kid stole it and wrecked it back in 01, and the bike's been sitting since, about 8 years. found the forum, thought i would introduce myself.

got a quick question though, i've cleaned out the tank, fuel valve, new filter, fixed fuel pump, tore apart the carb's a bit, cleaned the bowls, incl. floats, main jet's, "slow" jets, guides, drains, etc. etc. finally got it to run! BUt, i'm having an issue with using the choke. with a cold engine, if i turn the idle screw in 2 turns, it'll turn on without a problem, and idle at 2k until warmed up then i take out 2 turns, holds great. but if i use the choke, it dies/won't start. all the other bikes i've riden idle just goes up even if engine is warm...
Do these bikes have chokin issues? i know my freinds harley can't be choked, and i've heard of a few others also.. wondering if this is the same. i live in houston, and temps been in the 90's lately.

second question, front end needs to be replaced, i'm waiting for my new "used" front end to show up from an 88 cane. i should of asked this first, but, do they interchange?

The front end should be fine. Make sure the fuel mixture screws are set to about 2 1/2 turns out.

Set the big idle know that hangs off of the carbs to whereever it lets you idle at about 1200 rpm once it is warmed up.

When cold you should be able to put the choke on when starting and it will idle at about 3000 rpm with all the other settings the same.
