Good afternoon and this is my first post.
my names kristofer and I have a 1989 Cbr600f hurricane. I just bought the bike and I'm currently replacing parts that the p.o. installed. Main issue is ignition.. I bought a replacement from ragingmoto on ebay. The oem plug for ignition switch is a 6 pin plug, with all 6 pins present. The new plug is also a 6 pin plug but only 5 pins present. How would I make this work bc I spent 40 bucks on this "oem" replacement. Plugs in to oem harness perfectly. But I'm assuming since it's missing the 6th pin it won't work. I turn on the key and nothing happens. No power or anything. Please help
he lost the key and for some reason when you connected the negative battery terminal, it had constant power without the key even in the ignition, starts and runs. Now since I added thus, nothing happens please help Here is the ignition i ordered
This image is from a 1987 CBR600. Probably the same for the 1989 but can't be 100% sure. It shows wire colors and what wires are connected together when the ignition switch is in the ON position. Hope it helps.
Ignition switch may have been assembled wrong with terminals incorrectly inserted into connector. Use multimeter and determine which wires are connected at various switch positions. Then draw state-diagram like in lower-left of diagram posted. Compare 2 tables and compare wire-colours? If functions don't match, then you can re-pin connector of ignition-switch so it does work.
OFF/LOCK - in these positions, none of wires are connected
PA - parking light. This may be missing pin on yours. can be ignored
ON - BAT1 power is connected to IgOut -> fusebox and FAN circuit
May need to re-pin terminals on ignition-switch to they line up with corresponding wires on harness side. Ig+FAN are probably connected full-time. If one of these is in improper location and lines up with BAT1 on harness-side connector, then yeah, you'd have power when key is OFF
