everytime i clean the carbs the bike takes about 10 seconds to refil the float bowls. just wondering if you have actually taken the petcock out of the tank to check for debris on the screen?

Are you using the choke after he runs out of fuel?

Also check your carb vents

I've taken the petcock off and flushed the tank, everything is clean. Good flow through the petcock, both main & reserve.

I've not checked the bowl vents. Are they all connected together, or individual? I could see the problem if they were all connected together, but if individual it would try to start on the first carb to get fuel.

I've tried using the choke, doesn't seem to speed up the process. I know it should, it just doesn't seem like it. Maybe I'm just impatient!

lol yea i hear ya about being impatient, learned a valuable lesson this week though, I broke soooooo much **** while doin simple repairs on the car because i didnt want to take the time to remove something else.......so from now on, im verrrrrrry patient lol.

now back to the topic. If i remember correctly, carbs 1 and 2 are vented together and carbs 3 and 4 are vented together, but no connection between 2 and 3.

mmmmm i know we've probably asked you this when you last posted about problems, but did you clean the needle seat screens? and set the float height?

No I haven't been into the carbs, it runs fine so I thought we would just leave well enough alone.

If my son doesn't run it dry again it will be fine with me.

Last time he ran it dry he had to push it up a hill at night in the cold rain for 2 blocks. His shoulders hurt for days.

I agree about waiting 5-10 minutes. Seems like that works most times. I've run the tank out several times on mine. Wish there was a fuel gauge. I'm too lazy to keep track of my mileage!

bleed the fuel lines. just like the brake lines the fuel gets air bubbles in it and the air needs to be purged

UHH....what? The fuel system purges itself, its not a sealed system such as brake lines, thats why theres vents on the carbs.
