Hi all

Whilst taking bike for a blast today at x mph (obviously 60mph) in 4th at just under red line lost all power. No lights on dash and pulled clutch in. no power on starter. slowed and turned key off then back on - got red light on dash and started first click. Seemed to run ok

Anyone got any ideas why? I took battery off at home and pos terminal a bit loose but could not get fault when moving it about under tickover. Also neg a bit dirty so cleaned anyway.

Bike was powerwashed a week ago but ran fine for 30 mile blast before problem

Given that there was a total loss of power and all lights, there are a limited number of places where you'd need to look. Battery terminals of course, the 30A main fuse by the battery, as well as the Ignition Switch. Any loose connections in those areas would produce the symptoms that you're describing.

 

4th gear just under redline and only 60?.. Man, your rear sprocket must be the same size as the tire...

Idodirt pretty much nailed it though. My first thought would be loose or cooroded battery terminals.

 

Went for a blast yesterday and put the revs up again (cleaned and reseated battery terminals pm before). All seems ok now and as I've been drinking beer and this is not the truth - it cut out at about 135mph - serious brown trouser sphincter wobbling moment!
