Fuel Pump LEAK - GAS EVERYWHERE!! Please help!
Hello, just pulled my 88 600f hurricane out of the garage from winter.
Charged battery and as soon as I switched on the ignition, fuel pump starts clicking and gas comes pouring out. Just from the metal seam where the cap and body parts come together in the middle of the pump. Gas everywhere.
Anybody had a similar experience? I can't find anything like it online.
So I bypassed the pump with existing lines. It fires up and rides.
Took a short spin from my house. Ran great for 20-30min, then bogged down and died. I managed to get it started and get it home, but gas flow was very inconsistent. It would run ok for awhile, then bog down, then come back.
So, questions:
- Replacement fuel pumps? Are the $15 ones on ebay any good? Or do I really have to spend $150+?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/60-80LPH-Ne...MAAOSwCKRcwXsO
- I've heard these bikes really don't need fuel pumps? Mine runs without it, but not great. Could it be carb issues? Or do I really need one?
Thx

The ebay replacements? I've found to be excellent, & "HEY", lets face it, every thing is made in China these days, I've recently
bought a fuel fump for my RR & it's been in for about 6 months now, Has never missed a beat, & for $9 with hose's, clamps,
filter, & a new wires & connector. Over the past years i've bought new from ebay for my RR- 4 x coil sticks, stator, regulator, starter motor relay,
6mm 150psi fuel hose's & clamps, even a gauge cluster which was plug & play with a bit of adjusting for the speedo setting, & all these parts worked excellent
& for a price delivered, at most about a third of what the dealer would bill me, ? & at best 7.8% of what the dealer would bill me. Mind you I've not bought any engine & break disks
parts which I'll bite the bullet & get those from the dealer, But don't dismiss buying parts on ebay, as it will save you $$$.

The aftermarket pumps are known to fail in a very bad way. If you do a little research you’ll find many bikes that caught on fire when their aftermarket pump failed.
Save a few $$ at your own peril. 😳
